I know that I am very lucky to get to work from home with my current job (yes, I have a real job outside of this little blog) and therefore get to decorate my office however I feel like decorating it. And while not everyone is so lucky, there are a variety of ways you can make your workplace inspiring enough that you will WANT to do work there (or at least not hate it!).

step 1 - workhacks

Some of you may think this is uber cheesy, but I think it works. The first thing I see when I walk into my office space are these three signs (courtesy of SamandKateDesigns):

wall signs

Each time I walk in there, these quotes remind me to pursue my dreams and follow my heart. Again, I know, cheesetastic. But having a reminder of why you are working so hard or what you are working for can make all the time, effort, blood, sweat and tears worthwhile.

If you cant hang things on your wall or cube, you can also find smaller inspiration to put on your desk. I absolutely adore this quote from Lara Casey and have it front and center on my desk as a reminder:

Whatever words of encouragement you want to see, make them highly visible to you on your desk or wall so you can reference them whenever you need to.

Like an amazing pair of shoes or a brand new favorite piece of clothing – something that looks good and makes you smile will also encourage you to work with a positive attitude.

Items like these pens (which I picked up from Crumple & Toss), with their awesome words of encouragement:

Any of these will make organizing your clutter look and feel great!

One of my blogging icons, La Petite Fashionista, even wrote an entire post on gorgeous desk accessories, with this stunning guide:

step 3 - work hacks

Now, I don’t mean to ACTUALLY steal anything, but there are some killer resources out there that will help you to get what you want accomplished in the most effective and efficient manner possible.

One website that I constantly come to for career advice is The Muse.

They always have a TON of fantastic information on how to be and stay productive, but some of my favorite recent articles include:

I also just discovered they even have a 7 day email based class that will show you how to Hack Your Work Life. (We all know what I will be doing next week!)

So there you have it! These 3 simple tricks will give you that extra OOMPH to really kick your career into high gear in this new year! (Wow, that was a lot of rhymes in one sentence)
