Hi there, I’m Amanda!

I’m your typical (older) millennial who happened to find her passion while looking for her dream full-time job.

However, it took going through a pretty shittastic year to realize what I should even be applying for, and how to get there.

After being fired for refusing to take a $15,000 pay cut and work the same amount of hours, I was left blindsided. Though I had honestly hated my position and was being slowly crushed under a micromanaging boss, I didn’t know how to define myself without a job.

I have always loved to write, and thanks to my super supportive husband, I decided to apply for writing jobs.

And while that sounds easy, it was anything but. From November 2015 to March 2016, I applied for over 2000 jobs. I also went on over 250 interviews, wrote countless cover letters, and basically went balls out in securing my current full-time job.

Needless to say, I struggled through the trenches, and can now confidently report back from the other side.

Plus, NEWSFLASH, you don’t need a degree in the field, nor do you need to meet all the qualifications listed on the job posting.

The job I have now required in the posting that people have 5 years of agency experience.

Do you know how many years of agency experience I had?

Zero. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

But I felt like I fit many of the other qualifications, and I believed I could convince them that I would overcome the lack of agency experience through hard work.

Obviously, this tactic worked, since I am now gainfully employed.

This wasn’t the first time I had done that. There were many, many other jobs for which I applied where I didn’t meet all of the qualifications.

And I didn’t just settle for any old job – I get to work every day at my dream job. (Well, that’s a lie. My DREAM job would be to be Michelle Obama or Kerry Washington’s personal assistant. But outside of that, this is my dream job.)

So yes, it is possible to find your perfect fit in a job. And yes, it is possible to not wake up and feel like, Oh, this shit again?

I will walk you through everything from knowing when it’s time to say goodbye, what to do when you’ve been let go or quit, through the seriously awful application process and all the way to negotiating your best salary once you’ve landed your dream job.

So what are you waiting for?

And P.S. If you don’t even know where to start or what you want to do with your life, I’ve got you covered there as well! Check out my dream job survey below!
